About Sue Garrard …

I have been a maker all my life.

I am a South Australian based artist working in the areas of jewellery, print-making and installation. Much of my arts practice focuses on the use of recycled and reclaimed materials.

The world is full of stuff. A lot of that stuff gets thrown away. I don’t see these discards as junk – I view them as opportunities. They present a chance to create something lovely and to keep some of that stuff out of landfills.

I suppose I won’t save the planet single-handedly, but I hope that my work challenges our perception of ‘preciousness’ and reminds us that we can adorn ourselves and create beautiful things and still keep our planet safe.

 Mostly I hope my creations make you smile.
